Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1 egg white stiffly beaten
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts - optional
Instructions:
Combine brown sugar, water and vinegar in heavy 2 qt. saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves and mixture begins to boil. Cook to hard ball stage [250 degrees F] without stirring. Remove from heat immediately and gradually pour over stiffly beaten egg white, beating until thick and mixture holds its shape. Fold in nuts and vanilla. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper or spread on buttered pan and cut into squares.
