Ingredients:
12 bread slices, or 6 hot dog or 6 hamburger buns
1 tsp garlic minced seasong or powder or to taste
1 tsp basil seasoning or to taste
1/2 tsp oregano seasoning or to taste
1/4 tsp pepper or to taste
1/2 small tub margarine
1 large tomato, chopped and diced
Instructions:
I usually take a small half tub of margarine and use it for brushettas. Mix margarine, garlic, basil, oregano and pepper together. Spread the margarine thinly with a knife on your chosen 'bread'. If using buns, split the buns in half. Spread this garlic mix on the insides of the hot dog buns. Spread tomato on top of this. Toast bread over a grill, or a very hot oven of 425 degrees F. or in a toaster oven [also at 425 degrees F]. Brown on tops. For more crunch leave them until they are toasty brown.
You may also sprinkle with some parmesan cheese just before removing.
Yield: 6 servings for this recipe but really unknown
COMMENTS: Mmmm-mmm yummy. This is a great way to get rid of bread crusts and old buns. If they are starting to get a bit crusty that is perfectly ok. I usually make this with chili or spaghetti and the odd time for a snack. You can count each bun half as one serving.
Place the unused brushetta mix in the fridge and keep it for another meal. It has almost as long a shelf life as regular margarine does. Do not put left over tomato in the mix but add it seperately when you make it again.
